The Bible is not a “science book.” That said, not a single passage related to creation contradicts the Laws of Nature.
There are many passages related to creation. We can find three laws of nature in this one verse alone:
“[God] stretches the northern skies over empty space; he hangs the earth on nothing; he wraps up the water in his clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under its weight.” – Job 26:7
In this verse alone, we see threes laws of nature:
- the expansion of the universe – “stretches the…skies”
- gravity – “hangs on nothing” (gravity can be measured by its evidence, but is itself invisible)
- the water cycle – “wraps up water in clouds” – Energy from the sun causes water on the surface to evaporate into water vapor – a gas. This invisible vapor rises into the atmosphere, where the air is colder, and condenses into clouds.
A few verse later in Job, we find,
“By [God’s] breath the heavens gained their beauty.”
It’s fascinating when you really think about it all.
Astrophysicist, Sarah Salviander, was raised atheist. It was her study of the cosmos that led her to faith in Christ. She asserted,
“There is nothing in well-tested science that is incompatible with God.”
**Miracles:
To argue a “virgin birth” contradicts science is self-defeating since miracles lie outside the ability of science to prove or disprove. Miracles are metaphysical, outside the physical, natural observational process. In short, miracles do not come under the category of science. Science is incompetent to explain them away. If God exists, it makes sense that miracles are possible.
***When someone mocks, “That’s absurd. There is no God,” they’ve moved from the hard sciences to philosophy (their mere opinion.)
Think deeply, nw
