A preacher once said,
“Satan trembles when even the weakest Christian is on their knees in prayer.”
Mary, Queen of Scots, said of the Scottish reformer, John Knox,
“I fear the prayers of John Knox more than an army of 10,000 men.”
James, the half-brother of Jesus, wrote,
Sometimes, to aid my own personal prayer life, I will read through the prayers of others. The Bible is replete with recorded prayers (The book of Psalms contains 150). And then there are collections of prayers that have been kept for centuries.
One such collection is The Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers & Devotions.
The following is an excerpt from one such Puritan prayer. May it strengthen us as you and I continue to learn to tap into this “tremendously powerful” thing called prayer.
