Lambs and Dragons

Read carefully the following passage from the biblical book of Revelation:

“Then I (John) saw a second beast (the false prophet), coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon.”

Never forget what John described:

The false prophet looked like a lamb but spoke like a dragon.

Jesus warned,

“Watch out for false prophets [teachers]. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.”

The thing about false prophets is that they never look like false prophets.

Satan himself “masquerades as an angel of light.”

But, make no mistake: their words are straight out of hell.  And, although their words may contain nuggets of truth, a half-truth is still a whole lie.

Anyone professing a “progressive gospel” (“Another Gospel” by Alisa Childers is an outstanding resource), is a preacher/teacher who looks like a lamb but speaks like a dragon. The trendy “progressive gospel,” among other things, makes Jesus less than God, the Bible less than authoritative, as well as teaches that Christ’s work on the Cross is less than 100% sufficient for our salvation in Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone.

“How could anyone not see through this kind of teaching??”, you ask.

Because these false teachers “look like a harmless lamb,” disarming those with little knowledge of scripture.  Listeners are so enamored by the “lamb” they are completely unaware he’s a dragon.

Don’t let anyone – including preachers – ever do your thinking for you.  “But, that’s what the preacher said,” will not hold up in the heavenly courtroom before the Holy Judge.

This is why Paul told the Thessalonians,

But test all things carefully [so you can recognize what is good]. Hold firmly to that which is good.  Abstain from every form of evil [withdraw and keep away from it].

Soli Deo Gloria, Nick
